One-on-one Lessons

We provide one-on-one for piano, violin, guitar, voice, music theory, viola, cello, bass, drums, flute, saxophone and more. Flexible lesson duration of 30, 45, 60 minutes can perfectly fit our clients' preferences.

Online Lessons

Since 2020, online lessons have become popular and common. Although Young Mozart still recommends on-site lessons for the hands-on experiences of music education especially for beginners, we also offer online lessons as an alternative for its own advantages and flexibility.

Tests/Auditions/Competitions

We prepare our students for tests/auditions like ABRSM, Regional or All-State, competitions and more. Our students have passed tests with the highest scores and won awards along with invitations to perform in prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall NYC.

Recitals & Mini Concerts

We present recitals and mini-concerts to motivate our students, help them acquire experience, and build confidence in public performances. It is also a great time for the students' families to share in their accomplishments.

SHULI

Founder, Music Director

As a well-known music educator in NJ, Dr. Tang earned Master and Doctoral degrees from NYU and Rutgers University. Dr. Tang has been teaching music for more than 10 years and her students have 100% passed ABRSM tests; many of them also won important music competitions. As a performer, she has shared stages with world-famous musicians including Eagles, Glenn Frey, Marco Armiliato, Maija Kovalevska and many others.

MINDY

Music Director, Piano, Voice

Having studied piano from the age of 8, Mindy holds an A.F.A. degree in Music from Brevard College (NC) and a B.S. in Theatre Arts Management from Ithaca College. She has performed with a variety of vocal ensembles for over two decades at venues such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and Radio City Music Hall. Mindy is also a teacher with Music Together of Union County, NJ and an Assistant Teaching Artist with Broadway Bound Kids in NYC.

BARRY

Guitar, Piano, Drums, Ukulele

Barry earned his B.A. in music performance from Birmingham-Southern College, where he studied under guitarist/composer David Walbert (a student of André Segovia).  A guitarist/pianist for 30+ years, Barry has taught private lessons, performed for coffee houses, restaurants, churches and festivals in 17 states. He also worked as a music specialist for an after-school program that seeks to bridge the opportunity gap in underserved communities.

RYAN

Woodwinds, Piano

Educator and multi-instrumentalist Ryan is a graduate of the Master of Music program at NYU, and holds Bachelor of Music degrees from Rutgers University. He has performed in many major concert halls, including Carnegie Hall and Royal Albert Hall in London, and plays with numerous orchestras across the tri-state area. Ryan currently teaches band in Marlboro Township and is the woodwind technician for the Morristown High School Marching Band.

WINONA

Piano, Voice

As a classically trained pianist and music educator in NJ, Ms Winona earned her music degree in piano performance from the Lincoln University of Missouri and has over 15 years of experience teaching piano and voice. Her students are of all ages and performance levels, and love incorporating fun games and activities into lessons.

JONATHAN

Guitar, Piano, Drums, Ukulele, Bass

Jonathan has been teaching since 2003. He is a multi-instrumentalist who plays and performs Guitar, Bass, Drums, Piano, and Ukulele. Jonathan has attended The Berklee College of Music for sessions, Rutgers for Music Theory and Composition, William Paterson for Music Education and Jazz Performance. He has worked with The Jazz Institute receiving an award for excellence, and studied at NJPAC for Jazz, also honoring him with an award.

HANNAH

Cello, Piano

Hannah has a wide range of teaching experience for piano and cello students. She believes that lessons should be engaging, inspiring and fun! Hannah is pursuing her Artist Diploma at Rutgers, having already earned her Masters from Longy School of Music and her Bachelors from NYU. She is a proud alum of Interlochen Center for the Arts, with whom she toured the US and performed at Lincoln Center. She has attended many festivals, including NOI, performing on their Grammy nominated Naxos recording.

NEERAJ

Drums, Piano, Music Theory

Neeraj is currently Associate Professor of Music at CUNY–Queensborough Community College where he teaches drums, percussion, musicianship, and piano keyboard skills. He holds a DMA from the University of Michigan, and has performed and recorded with many notable artists from MacArthur Genius Steve Coleman to the legendary funk drummer Clyde Stubblefield. He lives with his wife in New Jersey where they enjoy going to the beach.

MAGGIE

Violin, Viola, Guitar, Ukulele

Maggie is a multi-string instrumentalist, whose focus is primarily on violin. She is earning a BMA
in violin performance at Mason Gross School of the Arts, and is a member of the Rutgers
Symphony Orchestra. In addition to her 15 years of classical violin training Maggie is also skilled
in multiple styles of world music, and promotes a teaching style which values player health and
strong technique.

CASEY

Piano, Voice

Casey believes anyone can learn music. And, in doing so, she makes sure that her students
have fun. Having graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Music degree, magna
cum laude, in Music Education, Casey has had extensive experience performing on stage and
teaching voice and piano. When she is not teaching, Casey enjoys traveling, baking, and
drinking bubble tea.

JERRY

Guitar, Bass, Drums

Jerry is a successful independent performing and recording artist that specializes in acoustic and electric guitar. Equipped with 15 years of performing and music theory knowledge, he has amassed over 13 million streams on music platforms such as Spotify from his original music. He has been teaching for 4 years, and provides his students with the confidence, knowledge and skills to reach any musical heights they desire.

TIFFANY

Piano, Ukulele

Tiffany graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education. She has been teaching music for over 8 years. In her Vietnamese church community, she was the Music Coordinator of the youth group. She was also Music Director of one of Rutger’s a cappella groups. Tiffany strives to help students become well rounded musicians and make piano lessons fun!

WENTING

Violin, Viola, Piano

Enjoy your lessons with a friendly and highly qualified teacher. Wenting is currently pursuing her Doctoral degree at Rutgers and holds a Master degree from Northwestern University. She is an active chamber and orchestra performer who has toured over 20 states in the US, Australia and Europe. As a music educator, Wenting has taught students of all ages and levels over the past 6 years. She wants her students to enjoy and learn music while having fun.

JANAY

Woodwinds, Brass, Piano

Ms. Janay plays clarinet, saxophone, flute, brass and piano. She's studying music education at Mason Gross school of the arts at Rutgers university. Giving children tools for success and watching them put them to use is the most fulfilling part of this journey. She had the opportunity to play in the commencement ceremony where President Obama was our guest speaker as well as other large ensembles provided at Rutgers such as symphony band and symphonic orchestra.

DEBORAH

Piano

Echoing Jean Sibelius's words, "Music begins where the possibilities of language end." Embark on this journey with Deborah. With her Bachelor of Arts from Esther Boyer College of Music, Temple University, and Master of Arts from Boston University, coupled with 20 years of teaching experience, she guides students from age three to adults, enabling them to eloquently express through music.

BENJAMIN

Brass, Drums, Guitar, Piano

Music educator for over 20 years. Active in marching band competitions through middle school/highschool as a soloist on trumpet. Earned a Bachelors degree in Music Education from NJCU. Directed church youth groups in the Essex/Passaic County areas. Former soloist with the 63rd army band and 50th armor division band. Performes in various styles as a percussionist including Jazz, gospel, classical, and reggae.

JULIE

Violin, Piano,

Julie earned her Music Performance degree from TCNJ, where she studied the methods of master teacher Raphael Bronstein and chamber music technique under the Penderecki String Quartet. She has performed at Carnegie Hall and with orchestras throughout NJ. As a musician for over 45 years, Julie believes everyone can learn to play and love music. She is a patient, positive and encouraging teacher, dedicated to helping her students reach their potential and discover the joys of making music!

REBECCA

Voice, Piano

Singer/songwriter and composer Rebecca Ticas earned her B.M. in Vocal Performance at the University of Central Arkansas, where she trained as a classical and musical theater singer, as well as a composer under the guidance of Dr. JoAna Rusche and Dr. Paul Dickinson. She has performed in opera shows, including Trial by Jury and Dido & Aeneas, and her compositions have been performed in Argentina, El Salvador, and Arkansas by prestigious choral ensembles

LYNDOL

Piano, Voice

Musician, Composer and Educator Lyndol has been teaching piano and voice lessons for the past 12 years. After completing Cum Laude Double Major from Texas A&M, she then advanced her study of Jazz Composition and Voice at the American School of Modern Music in Paris from 2006-2010. Since that time she has released 3 albums. In addition to teaching, she performs regularly as a soloist, with her Jazz Pop Trio for venues, and keyboardist for NYC bands of all styles. She also composes for various media.

COLIN

Guitar, Bass, Music Production

As a multi-instrumentalist, Colin has been working in music industry for more than 10 years. He holds a Master degree in music from NYU and has been producing music with artists from NYC and all over the world. He has released two studio albums and worked for Broadway Musicals, soundtracks for films and many more as a composer and producer.

Young Mozart Music Academy is founded by Dr. Shuli Tang, a well-known and experienced music educator in the Central NJ area. Dr. Tang went to NYU and Rutgers Univ. for her master’s and doctoral degrees in music. During her years of teaching, her students have passed ABRSM tests 100% with great scores, as well as winning top positions in multiple prominent international music competitions and have performed at renowned venues including Carnegie Hall and Baruch Performing Arts Center in NYC.
